Wines of Valencia, personal blog

    About this Project
  • Type: website redevelopment
  • Platform: WordPress
  • Design: bespoke theme
  • Coding: HTML, CSS, PHP, jQuery
  • Project Delivered: October 2009

Client started blogging almost 3 years ago, but the site (Wines of Valencia) never really came off the ground as the CMS was not very user-friendly.

Client likes to write short stories or blurbs of things that come up and he wanted his new blog to reflect that.

The choice for WordPress was an obvious one and we chose to develop the theme especially for the client, instead of taking an existing theme, breaking it down and rebuilding it.

We chose to place only excerpts of the posts on the home page and developed a function that the client can choose to upload a picture or not; when he does, a thumbnail of the picture will be shown, but when there is no image the excerpt still looks good.

On a separate page from the normal blog client can add posts that he has published elsewhere. We have done that in order not to clutter his personal blog with 3rd party publications and still give him the chance to publish as much as he can or wants to.

Furthermore we have integrated client’s Twitter and Adegga streams.

The Wines of Valencia website is being hosted by Senlin Hosting Club, worry free hosting for small businesses and personal blogs. On the testimonials page you can read what the client had to say after we delivered the website.
